What on Earth slots

Game screen What On Earth video slot What On Earth is a new 5 reel 9 line video slot in the Viper suite. What On Earth has a Sci-Fi theme with symbols like rockets, shuttles, flying saucers, asteroids and aliens peering through port holes. Also the regular fruit symbols have a space theme, for example Orange suns and cherry comets. We expect What On Earth to be popular amongst Space Invaders gamers but also the science fiction enthousiasts.

What makes What On Earth slot unique is that it is also the first slot that has multi-tier bonus screens. But more about this later. The game has a wild symbol (What On Earth symbol) and instead of one it has three scatter symbols (rocket, space shuttle and saucer symbols). You can play the game with up to 5 coins per line which means you can play it with up to 45 coins per spin. The highest jackpot pays out 7,500 coins. In other words if you play the game with a coin size of $1 and five coins per payline you will be paid $37,500 (7,500 coins x 5 coins per line x 1.00). When playing the game we felt a resemblance with the video slot Big Kahuna with the exception of the bonus games of What on Earth video slot.

Bonus screens

As mentioned above What on Earth has multi-tier bonus screens. The game has three bonus games. Whenever you have three space shuttle or flying saucer symbols appearing on reel 3, 4 and 5 or 3 or more rocket symbols appear on adjacent reels on any of the 5 reels the Beam em Up bonus game is activated. From within this bonus screen you can gain access to the other 2 bonus screens.

Beam em Up bonus screen

Beam em Up bonus game

When 3 saucer or space shuttle symbols are displayed on the reels 3, 4 and 5 or 3 rocket symbols appear on adjacent reels on the reels 1 to 5 the Beam em Up Bonus game is activated. You will see 5 aliens in their space ships at the top of the screen. You have to select one of these aliens by clicking on its space ship. The alien will beam up an either an earthling, a Contest symbol or a Globe symbol.

There are in total 13 earthlings you can beam up. When the earthling is beamed up the value is revealed. This is a multiplier value. The prize you win is the number of coins you played at the start of the spin multiplied by the value of the earthling you beamed up.

Each earthling has a different multiplier value. The lowest valued earthling is a Pot Plant which pays out 3 times the number of coins wagered. The highest multiplier is 200 times the number of coins you staked and is won when your alien beams up a Shower Babe.

If the alien you selected beams up a Contest symbol you win entry to the Beam em Up Contest game. You will automatically be taken to the Beam em Up Contest screen. If a Globe symbol is beamed up by your alien the Where on Earth Destination game is activated. You will find more information about these bonus games below.

Beam em Up Contest bonus screen

Beam em Up Contest

The Beam em Up Contest game can only be activated from within the Beam em Up game. When the alien you selected beams up a Contest symbol this bonus game is activated. Again you will find the 5 aliens at the top of the screen. You will automatically play the contest with the alien you previously selected. All 5 aliens activate their transporter beams and start beaming up earthlings within the given time. The values of the earthlings are the same as in the Beam em Up game, in other words a Pot Plant is worth 3 times the total number of coins wagered while a Cop is worth 100 times the number of coins wagered. At the end of the game the total number of coins won will be added to your balance.

Destination bonus screen

Where On Earth Destination bonus

If the alien you selected on the Beam em Up bonus screen beamed up a Globe symbol you will automatically be taken to the Where On Earth Destination game. On your screen you will see 4 possible destinations, Cairo, London, New York or Tokyo. You have to choose a destination from these 4 options. You can then once again choose an alien. Like in the regular Beam em Up game the alien will beam up an earthling and the multiplier value of the earthling will be revealed to calculate your winnings. However, in the destination game each destination has one extra earthling that can be beamed up. For Cairo this is a Mummy, for London the Queen, for New York the Statue of Liberty and for Tokyo it is the Emperor. If you happen to beam up one of these symbols you will be paid 400 times the number of coins you wagered. Example: You played with 5 $1 coins per payline and had 9 lines enabled during the spin that activated the bonus game. On the Where on Earth destination screen you selected Cairo and you happen to beam up the Mummy. You will now be paid 45 coins x 400 = 18,000 coins or $18,000. Of course if you played with a lower coin size the total amount will be calculated based on that coin size (18,000 x coin value).

What On Earth symbol
The What On Earth symbol is the wild symbol in the game. Normally a wild symbol substitutes for any other symbol to complete a winning combination, but in this case it will only substitute for a Port Hole or a Console symbol. The What On Earth symbol can also be a winning combination itself. You will however only be paid the prize of the highest winning combination. So for example if you have a What On Earth symbol and a Console symbol on an enabled payline there are 2 possible combinations, the single What On Earth symbol or 2 Console symbols. The payout for the first combination is 4 times the number of coins per payline, the second combination pays 5 times and therefore you will be paid for the 2 Console symbols.

Rocket, Saucer and Space Shuttle symbols
These 3 symbols are the scatter symbols. This means they do not have to appear in a line on an enabled payline for you to win. The symbols also activate the bonus games. There are only 3 Saucer and 3 Space Shuttle symbols in the game, one of each on reel 3, reel 4 and reel 5. There are 5 Rocket symbols in the slot, one on each of the 5 reels. For the Rocket symbol to pay out they will have to appear on three or more adjacent reels. So a Rocket symbol on reels 1, 2, 4 and 5 will not pay out. If they appear on reels 1, 2, 3 and 5 you only will be paid the prize for 3 Rocket symbols.

We have played this slot a lot the first couple of days after it was added to the software. Whilst we played the game we noticed that at some casinos the bonus games where few and far between but the winnings would be high. Later on we noticed that we got more bonus games but the winnings where on average lower. It could well be that the chances of winning entry to the bonus screens is adjusted based on information gathered from the slot. Hopefully there will at some point be a good balance between the frequency of entry into the bonus games and the prizes you can win.

Overall we like the game. It offers a lot of exitement and good payouts. If you happen to be lucky and beam up a valuable earthling your winnings are even excellent. This is certainly a game we recommend you give a spin.
